Communities In Schools of Central WA is seeking to fill two full-time Student and Community Advocate positions that will be based in Yakima Public Schools. These school-based positions identify and coordinate community resources, volunteers and partnerships to address the identified academic, social and emotional needs of youth (and their families) who face individual and systemic barriers to academic success through developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive interventions, services, and supports. The Student and Community Advocates work closely with the administration, counseling and student support teams in their school.
We seek a dynamic and creative leader to build a sustainable, local independent affiliate office of the CIS Network in Central Washington (Yakima, Kittitas, Klickitat Counties). This affiliate launched in August 2021 and is currently under the Washington State Office of Communities In Schools (CISWA). CISWA is the fiscal sponsor, therefore is responsible for governance and finances until the Communities In Schools of Central Washington has its own 501C3 and is in compliance with CIS National. This is a significant undertaking and why the state office works closely with the Developing Affiliate Executive Director over two to three years to ensure that they build a strong Board of Directors for organizational governance and securing funding through community investments to sustain and expand operations.
